Elliot's awesome. Saw him in Detroit at St Andrews Hall. Then he killed himself on my birthday. Why am i compelled to tell people this?
His music is fantastic. the soundtrack to a lot of memories. alas, his death did not come as too much of a surprise.
I still remember the first time I heard "Southern Belle" (on the Pennsylvania Turnpike) and was floored. My perennial favorites are still the loping "satellite" and the damning, devastating "between the bars," among others.
was the st. andrews show one of his "good" nights? i've heard stories of show from his later days and it was reportedly a lot of slurring, missed chords, confusion...
